So I was at a bit of a loss for anything to post this week, and to be honest I've been kinda cranky so that anything that I would normally find inspirational I currently find annoying. I decided to draw something instead. so here is a man with a deer head, or if you prefer a deer with a man body. He is kicking a squirrel who probably deserves it.

Mary Blair

I’ve been looking at a lot of Mary Blair’s stuff lately; I should probably just go out and grab her book. Anyway, I really love her stuff it’s just very solid, pure, there’s not any BS going on, it’s just mood and style.
In case you don’t know, Mary Blair was an artist for Disney way back when. She started there in 1940 and did designs for a bunch of the early cartoons like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, etc etc. She also designed the It’s a Small World ride. Walt Disney was really into her child like drawings and was always pushing to get her style into the final versions of film without being watered down.

Some inspiration

This guy, Ernesto Garcia Cabral, was an amazing illustrator. I've always been in love with his posters and have two of them on my walls. he did a lot of posters for Mexican movies back in the day. his work is always fun, bright and bold. they're very cartoonish but he worked mostly on comedies so it fits. this guy draws some amazingly attractive women I think. Even just his sense of design is great though, look at how he completely controls the direction of your eyes down through the entire poster and puts you right at the credits. Awesome.
I found this pick at http://www.riceandbeanz.net/blog/?currentPage=9
its a pretty cool site full of vintage art.
